DECKING THE HALLS IN STYLE

To say that the holidays are Cameron Patrick Neth's favorite time of year is an understatement. In fact, that might be all that can be understated about this young, fabulous interior designer.
Neth, a regular fixture at Western Pennsylvania's social events and happenings, had his first taste of designer fame at 19 when the Neiman Marcus Christmas Catalog
featured his over-the-top Christmas stockings. These couture-quality stockings, with their mink trims and French silk lace, are so luxurious they make you wish you could wear them.
"The Christmas stockings, they're one of my favorites," Neth, now 24, says. The stockings developed because he had a client with a flair for accessories. "I'd
always say, 'Anne, I love your rings,' or 'Anne, I love your purse,'" Neth says, "And she'd always say, 'Oh, honey, that's a stocking stuffer."
He pauses and adds, "And it would be, like, a quarter of a million dollar ring."
So Neth began to imagine what kind of stocking would bear those glamorous rings and purses, and his line of high-end Christmas stockings was born. The stockings are
available at Tim Condron Florist in Shadyside, Louis Anthony Jewelers in the South Hills, and at Victoria in Fox Chapel.
But it's not just his fur-and-feather trimmed confections that indicate his love for the holidays. In addition to the Christmas decorations he annually designs for
Louis Anthony Jewelers, he also lavishly decks his own halls with multiple Christmas trees. Plus, his Brownsville home, from which he conducts his interior design business, looks dressed up for
the holidays all year. "I have a very distinct personal style," Neth says. "It's a dramatic, metallic type of look." His gold chandeliers and silver-topped tables, as well as the rich fabrics with
which he's surrounded himself, feel opulent and decorative, just like this time of year.
"Cameron has vision where a lot of other people don't. He doesn't do things that are typical," says Veronica Guarino, vice-president of Louis Anthony Jewelers. In
addition to the jewelry store, Neth has also created floral arrangements and draperies for Guarino's private residence.
"He tries to get a feel for the kind of lifestyle you have, and then he adapts his decorating to your taste," she says.
Neth says his company is committed to making his clients' dreams come true, and that he likes to get to know them so he can "put a little extra flair in there that
they enjoy." He says he knows he's been successful when his clients tell him they're glad they trusted him.
"That's really when you feel so good about doing something for somebody," he says.
And isn't that what this time of the year is all about?
